Better Know A Blogger: Anna Brain of Oh My Blog!
Russian style blogger Anna Brain has been able to parlay her love for top brands into a blog and a horde of fashion forward followers. Her site Oh My Blog! highlights her looks that range from color and cutting edge to effortlessly classic. It also comes in a myriad of languages that help the Moscow-based journalist translate her love of fashion into a global presence. The admittedly soft spoken blogger, who often shares more in the text of her blog than in typical conversation, gives us an inside glimpse into both her closet and career on the web.
How would you describe your style?
Anna Brain: My style is my mood. It is different and inimitable every day.
What led to you starting your blog?
At first it was just interesting for me to see if I could write about fashion the way that I wrote society chronicles.
How did you pick the name?
The name Oh My Blog! was chosen from hundreds of variations that came to my friends and my mind. It sounds like russian version of "Oh, my God!" and basically doesn't refer to fashion.
Who are your fashion icons?
Everything around inspires me. Weather, tasty spaghetti, news, or a mess in my wardrobe.
What are your favorite brands?
Givenchy, Christian Louboutin, Maison Martin Margiela, American Apparel.
Where do you get the clothes in your wardrobe?
In general I buy clothes in vintage shops overseas — that's the canonical point for all my trips. As for Moscow, I do not have time for shopping here.
What's your favorite color?
Beige. I've gotten fond of flesh colors. Can't say that [I] have a lot of beige clothes; just [a] few items, but it is one of my favourites!
No outfit is complete without...
The right choice in accessories. I think it is an ideal accompaniment for any outfit. I like if the outfit has many interesting details.
What are you favorite opportunities that have come you way through the blog?
I've met many wonderful people including designers and trandsetters. Also I travel around and have worked with global brands like Topshop, Romwe and others.
What are your ambitions outside of the blog?
I believe that told ambitions will not come true. So let it be my secret.
What do you do when you're not blogging?
Work, work, work!
