Casablanca Comes to London to Liven Up Sundays
Despite what they say about a day of rest, everyone secretly knows Sundays to be rubbish. So, props to DJs Derren Smart and Carsten Klemann, for coming up with Casablanca and forcing some life into this stale, sorry day.
On alternate Sundays from July 1 to October 14, Loft Studios will host a series of afternoon summer sessions from some of the finest names and label in disco, house and techno, in the unique and plush rooms of West London’s Loft Studios.
Artists lined up for Casablanca include Seth Troxler, Anja Schneider, Simon Baker, X-Press 2, Rub N’ Tug, Gerd Janson and Rob Mello, all of whom will be wringing every last drop of summer out of the sessions via a handy feature of the various studios, which open out onto an open-air courtyard, complete with pop-up cocktail bar, and black and white films projected onto the courtyard walls.
Casablanca will launch on July 1 through the very capable hands of Belin-based mobilee records co-founder Anja Schneider, supported by further talent from the label, And.id. Joining the mobilee crew for the launch will be the inimitable Simon Smith from the ever-reliable house, disco and tech channel that is 2020 Vision. Casablanca co-founders Derren Smart and Circus Company’s Carsten Klemann will also join the opening lineup.
The following Casablanca session sees the lush dream-pop of Montreal duo Footprintz take over Loft Studios on July 15, followed by some serious Berlin vibes on July 29 from Berghain/Panorama Bar residents Prosumer, and Tama Sumo, alongside X-Press 2 laying down a special Balearic set.
A further string of talent will follow throughout the summer sessions, proving that Friday and Saturday are merely warm-ups for the audio treats and party vibes of Casablanca Sundays.
