Charli XCX Drops New Song for Valentine's Day
England's Charli XCX has been buzzing about electro-pop circles since last summer. Despite being only 19, she has a keen sense of 1980s synth-pop, and the few songs she has released are all very aware of Robert Smith's pained alliterations and Human League's engulfing pop songcraft. On her single, "Stay Away," Charli's use of icy keyboard tones and mechanical beats give her a slightly goth edge while remaining poised in the pop world. Her new song, "Valentine," is out for today (and only today), and may be her best song yet. It's warm and glowing vibe is an enticing appetizer not only for spring time, but for a full length record that will hopefully also just be around the corner.
