Chill Out at the World's First Pop-Up Ashram
A mere picture of Design Hotels' latest pop-up provides enough incentive to book a stay, but a complete description of what it promises to offer is apt to make such a trip supremely desirable. Following the success of their first pop-up resort on the coast of Tulum, Mexico, the hotel group is continuing their Papaya Playa Project with Pop-Up Ashram, a spiritual retreat opening on the same stretch of sand September 15–November 5.
Yoga, meditation, art and music are the hallmarks of the venture, which Design Hotels' founder and CEO Claus Sendlinger describes as a place to explore the environment and one's inner-self. Packages include five- and eight-day retreats conceived by spiritual explorer Michael Liss, and, in an effort to get "off the grid," the project is working with eco-initiative Finding Infinity. The partnership will result in solar-heated water, wind power technology and bicycle-powered blenders being implemented at the property. All you have to do is show up.
