CloudSourcing: Arnaud Rebotini
Arnaud Rebotini has been around the musical block a few times. The Frenchman cut his teeth playing in death metal bands, later gravitating to experimental pop before forming electroclash outifit Black Strobe — a seminal act that describes its sound as "frozen Balearic gay biker house" — in 1997. Following the release in 2011 of his acclaimed industrial/house/techno solo album Someone Gave Me Religion, Rebotini has released his five-track Pagan Dance Move EP on The Hacker and Gesaffelstein's Zone Records. Currently working on Black Strobe's next album, Rebotini fills us in on five SoundCloud pages that are simply music to his ears.
Arnaud Rebotini's Pagan Dance Move EP is out now on Zone Records. Black Strobe's "The Girl from The Bayou" will be released in January on Blackstrobe Records.
1. Throne Of Blood
New York label Throne of Blood have released acts like Bicep, Populette, Aemon Harkin, AKA JK and Dead Rose Music company, who did an amazing remix of the last Black Strobe single "Boogie in Zero Gravity." I love their sound; it's deep and groovy.
2. Pan European
Next to Desire and Born Bad, Pan European is my favourite French label. It's the home of Kill for Total Peace, Koudlam, Judah Warsky, Aqua Nebula, and Jonathan Fitousi. For me they are represent a mordern idea of psyche.
3. Drop Out Orchestra
I love their funky disco sound. You have to check them DJing — they're incredible. On their SoundCloud page you can find some really cool disco edits; they did an incredible remix of "Boogie in Zero Gravity" too.
4. Elijah Collins
Another Black Strobe remixer! For me Elijah is just one of the UK best producers and DJs around at the moment.
5. Soundway Records
Soundway are this super Afrobeat label. They've released some really rare Afro records. Miles Cleret, the boss of label, is always travelling to Africa to find the original tapes.
