Daria Martin: Sensorium Tests @ MK Gallery (KYN)
Starting this Thursday, Daria Martin will be presenting a selection of four 16mm short films including her latest project, Sensorium Tests, at MK Gallery. Her new film focuses on a newly recognized neurological condition known as "mirror-touch synaesthesia," where one experiences a sense of touch on their own bodies when seeing other people. The film depicts scenes based on experiments with this condition in an effort to show how sensations may be created and shared between others. In addition to Sensorium Tests, screenings of Martin's past work, including Closeup Gallery, Soft Materials, and Harpstrings and Lava, will also be shown. The exhibition will be a thorough exploration of the push and pull between the illusion of cinema and how it plays in real life. It will be running until April 8, 2012.
