'David Bowie Is' Grants Access to Icon's Archive

DAVID BOWIE IS

London’s prestigious Victoria and Albert Museum has announced an iconic retrospective exhibit celebrating the extraordinary career of British entertainer David Bowie (a.k.a. the Thin White Duke) which has spanned over five decades.

Titled David Bowie Is the exhibit will feature over 300 pieces of memorabilia including costumes, photography, film, handwritten lyrics, music videos, set designs, musical instruments and artworks; examining Bowie’s influence as a fashion, art and musical icon.

The exhibited archive includes over 60 stage costumes that will be on display for fans to experience; including an original Union Jack coat designed by Bowie and Alexander McQueen (pictured) for his Earthling album cover and Japanese designer Kansai Yamamoto's decadent creations for his Aladdin Sane tour in 1973.

The exhibition which has been in the making for over two and a half years will open next year from March 23 to July 28.
