Diplo to Host New BBC Radio 1 Show
While Diplo may have garnered years of noteriety from his work with M.I.A. and Santigold, this year may be the man's biggest yet in regards to making a name for himself. Currently readying a new EP and working on tracks for Usher, not to mention touring around with the likes of Sleigh Bells and Liturgy, he still has some time to fill British airwaves with even more great body shaking tuneage. Starting April 7, Diplo will be broadcasting a weekly show on BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra entitled Diplo & Friends. Airing from 1 to 3 am GBT, the show will feature exclusive mixes from the DJ, as well as material from other Mad Decent artists and some "big name pals" who will periodically be dropping in.
The first episode will feature Canadian producer Lunice and Mad Decent creative director Paul Devro. Other guests this month will include Dillon Francis, Flosstradamous, and Brodinski.
Considering the DJ's busy schedule, one would think Saturday nights would be prime real estate for the man, but given the sound of this show, the hottest spot in town might not be the club, but the BBC Radio 1 studio.
