Download: New Avalanches Mixtape?
The Avalanches are being very mysterious lately. The Australian samplers who released their landmark album Since I Left You 12 (!) years ago were believed to have dropped a mixtape on the website Pinchy & Friends again. Back in April, a mixtape called "Sleepy Bedtime Mix for Young Ones" was released on the site to which The Avalanches tweeted a link with the caption that it "may or may not be mixtape by ♥ ∆v∆L∆NCH∑≤ ♥."
Now another mix has appeared on the site called Cool Gays by Cool Gaze (presumably an alias) which concludes with "a track that may or may not be The Avalanches." Much like the earlier mixtape, it has all the earmarks of the sample-loving Aussies and will hopefully be the prelude to one of the most anticipated sophomore records in EDM history.
Unlike the last mix which was comprised mostly of dusty, oldies 45s and random psychedelia, this one sounds like it's coming directly from David Hasselhoff's tapedeck in Night Rider, boasting a selection of rarities filled with smooth synths, robotic vocoders and glossy guitars.
