Event Recap: Four Tet, Jamie XX and Caribou DJ Set at Bal Blanc [Gallery]
On Thursday night Bal Blanc took over the Grand Palais museum in Paris for an all-white, invite-only fete soundtracked by DJ sets by Four Tet, Jamie xx and Caribou. Thrown in conjunction with the Creator's Project and marking the closing of the museum's Daniel Buren Monumenta exhibit, guests entered the vast space underneath an array of oversized colorful discs.
Rather than doing separate DJ sets as had been billed, the three men of the hour combined their skills through out the night, each taking turns of the DJs decks, switching every few songs and almost always occupying the DJ booth all at once. The circular booth sat raised in the center of the museum's impressive architecture. Attendees wore all white and sipped champagne from pristine glasses or beer from all-white Heineken bottles. With a percussion heavy setlist to accompany the evening's escapades, revelers danced around the DJ booth, around poles and underneath the colored discs until 2am.
