#Fantasia: Nicola Formichetti Guest Edits Dazed & Confused
Superstar stylist, linchpin at Lady Gaga’s art direction team Haus of Gaga, and creative director of Parisian luxury brand Mugler, Nicola Formichetti is a busy man with numerous strings to his bow. After the recent folding of Vogue Hommes Japan, November 14 sees him once again adding editor to his ever expanding list of fashion feats, with the arrival of #Fantasia, London-based fashion, film, and music magazine Dazed & Confused’s December issue.
An ode to the youth boom of East Asia, the issue guest edited by Formichetti celebrates the Japanese side of the stylist-cum-designer’s Italian-Japanese heritage, including features on fashion blogger and J-pop icon Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, Chinese model-actress Angelababy, and film director Mika Ninagawa, as well as four unique covers channelling the vibrance, youth and irreverence of #fantasia. The issue’s fashion spreads featuring Chinese supermodel Liu Wen salute Harajuku street-style, while Chinese sticker artist Ye Hongxing creates a specially commissioned "Nicopanda" (Formichetti’s cute and kawaii alter-ego) piece for the occasion.
Since everything Formichetti touches seems to turn to 24 karat gold, this homage to his Asian homeland is set to become a coveted collectible.
