Have a Merry Moogfest 2011
Look, we know what you're thinking — Moogfest, it's gotta be overloaded with synth obsessives getting their geek on for three days, right? Um, well...okay, yeah. That's actually true. But Moogfest also happens to be a music festival with one of the most jaw-dropping lineups you're likely to come across. The Ashville, NC event is set for October 28 (Hey, that's today!) to 30, and not only is it a hell of a salute to electronic music godfather Bob Moog and his many inventions that irrevocably altered the world of sound, it promises to be one of the biggest blowouts of 2011.
So who will we see performing on a multitude of Moog axes, alongside other equipment? Take a deep breath. Tangerine Dream, Moby, TV On The Radio, Crystal Castles, Suicide, Neon Indian, SBTRKT, Amon Tobin, The Flaming Lips, Chromeo...we could keep on going for quite a while, because that's only the edge of the avalanche of talent that will be rolling through Asheville this weekend. For instance, Brian Eno will also be a "very special guest" at Moogfest, making his multimedia presence felt in a few different contexts. Minimoogs, Moogerfoogers, and Etherwave Theremins will be beeping, buzzing, and wailing all weekend long, so if you're not already on board, hop on over to the Moogfest website to find out more before it's too late! And please — one pet peeve — try to keep in mind that it's Moog as in "rhymes with rogue," rather than the cow-like mispronunciation that's so irritatingly ubiquitous.
