Indulge In A Cultural Binge At London's Vault Festival

The-Furies-Vault-Festival

Vault Festival, a bold new addition to London's cultural calender, will hit the capital on February 9, promising a varied and delightfully eccentric program of arts, theater, film and music spread out over three weeks.

Billed as London's version of the internationally renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Vault will offer such bohemian delights as a silent disco rework of Puccini's La Bohème (complete with live singers) courtesy of the Silent Opera team, a wild meeting of contemporary theatre and heavy metal, as Birmingham band The Furies (pictured) retell the ancient Greek story of Clytemnestra through rock opera, and satirical shadow puppet comedy from the twisted comic minds of The Great Puppet Horn.

As well as a range of music and comedy, Vault also features a healthy film programme, and movie buffs can get their horror fix through Vault's collaboration with Hammer — the cult UK horror film production company — who will be screening a series of classic and contemporary horror flicks throughout the festival.

A further gothic tinge is added to Vault through the event's location, London's Old Vic Tunnels, a winding, maze-like performance space which hosts some of the city's most innovative productions, and acts as a fitting location for what will surely be the first of many Vault events.
