Kasra Kicks Out 'Fabriclive 62'
London drum 'n' bass impresario Kasra Mowlavi has been tapped to bring the beats for the next Fabriclive mix, and he'll be dipping into both his deep knowledge of drum & bass and the inroads he's made with his own Critical Music label. For the last decade, Critical Music has been the conduit for cutting-edge artists like Rockwell — no, not the "Somebody's Watching Me" guy from the '80s — Foreign Concept, and many more, and Kasra isn't shy about showing Fabric fans how much his label has contributed to the scene. He tosses tracks by Critical Music artists into his mix in a manner both seamless and spot-on.
In addition to including such CM beatmakers as Dub Phizix, Enei, Sabre, and the aforementioned Foreign Concept and Rockwell, Fabriclive 62 — out March 19 in Europe and April 24 in the U.S. — finds Kasra touching on the legacy of another important label, Metalheadz, with tracks from Mikal & Break and Commix. Along the way, he also finds a way to work Klute, Icicle, MC DRS and others into the mix. Many of the cuts he culls from the Critical Music roster are previously unreleased, so this installment of the famed Fabriclive not only upholds the series' tradition of going the extra mile for maximum musical impact, but also provides fans of Kasra's world with a unique peek that they wouldn't otherwise have had.
