Moonbeam's Light Keeps Shining Brighter

Moonbeam Magic01

To live in each country of the world — that’s our dream.

Russian brothers Vitaly and Pavel Khvaleev, known as Moonbeam, have been taking the electro world on by storm — from huge live performances, featured guests on Sirius/XM and the release of their album The Secret, it has been a great year for this duo. But not just this year has been busy for them - they've been going strong since '03 and in total the brothers have released 177 original productions and remixes, 18 music videos and have garnered praise from the biggest names in the business. And these days Moonbeam is becoming one of the biggest names in the business. Their delectable sound -- a hauntingly beautiful combination of progressive trance and techno is the kind of music that stays with you. Hear them once and you need to hear them again and again. (Check out their exclusive DJ mix for Société Perrier here.)

We caught up with the brothers to learn more about the inspiration behind the masterpiece.

How did your music production career begin?
It was in 2003. After a long apprenticeship under other allies we decided to create brand new project called Moonbeam. And already next year we went to the Switzerland for our first official performance. To be honest, it was very hard in the beginning but here we are!

What are your biggest inspirations? For example, what inspired you the most while producing The Secret?
Traveling is one of our favorite activities. And besides the fact that it's beautiful and exciting, it's a perfect source of inspiration. Traditions, customs, culture, cuisine of different countries gives us a number of ideas. The same situation with writing The Secret album. After long  journeys we came to the studio and started write the album.

Where are your favorite places to perform live?
Japan, France, Ukraine, and Russia. The crowds in these countries is just amazing. But, of course, each country reacts differently. And Czech, Germany, USA, Slovakia also have great crowds.

Any places that you haven’t yet performed in that you want to visit soon?
To live in each country of the world — that’s our dream. And, of course, we would like to visit some big festivals.

Who would you love to work with?
Maybe with some big artists of EDM or world music scene like Björk or Daft Punk.

It seems like you both found the best job on earth, what do you love most about what you do?
As we said above — traveling. It’s a part of our job and you know it's really cool if you do something what you really love to do. We think that it one of the most important things in peoples' lives.

Are you working on another album or any new songs? What can fans expect next?
Yes. Now we are working on our new album. Also we will release some separate singles, remixes, and videos. Everyday we spend a lot of time in the studio so this year will be very productive for us.

What would you like to say to your fans?
Do what you want to do. And always be yourself.
