My 2011: Dagmar
We spoke to the stylish sisters Kristina Tjäder, Karin Söderlind and Sofia Wallenstam recently about their label House of Dagmar. Since its creation in 2005 the brand has expanded to over 160 boutiques worldwide and received many accolades, winning a particularly notable award this year. Proudest moment of 2011?
August 19, 2011 when we won Guldknappen, the most prestigious Scandinavian design award. Since we started Dagmar we've always dreamed about winning this prize. We always felt we were so new and small compared to our Swedish colleagues like Acne for example. Winning the award made 2011 a nice golden year for us.
Best trip of 2011?
Sofia got married in Tuscany at Castel Monastero, a fantastic place. It was a three-day wedding party. The crazy but lovely band Gypsy Queens came and played through the wedding dinner.
Favorite clothing purchase of 2011?
We wear almost only Dagmar clothes, surprise, so we are all shoes freaks! Got really nice boots from Margiela and a pair from Dries Van Noten at Yoxo.
Favorite song of the year?
"Shake it out" by Florence and the Machine. Also Lykke Li — she is wonderful to listen to, especially all of the songs on her most recent album.
What's your New Year's resolution?
We want to work on our inner strength and soul. Also to remember to be happy for each day and grateful for what is happening to us. Everything has gone so quickly and we have such high demands on ourselves so we have a difficult time just staying in the moment and smiling.
