My 5 Favorite Things: Fayçal Noah

faycal noah

"At the moment so I'm obsessed with wrestling suits now, and also, showing a lil' leg goes a long way."

Fayçal Noah is an easy face to spot in Paris, because he seems to be everywhere, whether he be dancing on the DJ booth, decked out in costume at an event, at the door of the party you want into, pulling a bartending shift or creating the pages of the magazine you're reading.

Originally hailing from Boston, MA, Noah has called Paris home for the past four years. He's been part of the Flash Cocotte family since the beginning and now stands as the one to impress at the door of the high energy queer party, on the look out for "who has and who doesn't have the Flashcocotte spirit...with all its political aspects." He also "does a bit of everything" at hyperactive gay bar/dance zone Les Souffleurs alongside Pipi de Freche and Niz Denox who not only act as creative directors of the bar, but are also resident DJs at Flash Cocotte. In addition, he is co-creative director and in charge of PR for Khube magazine. Originating online, the tasteful fashion periodical is soon to be available in print. Here the 27-year-old shares with us his five favorite things.

1. Favorite song to dance to: "Together Again" by Janet Jackson, only because I'm crazy about soul and R&B music; I spend hours deconstructing tracks, the bass chords, the harmonies, etc., and this particular title, despite the difficult topic (AIDS and the passing away of people we love) has so much sunshine and joy in it. I call it "sunshine soul music." Uplifting, music really heals.

2. Favorite cocktail: Very thick & fragrant leaves of Mint+sugar+crushed ice/You shake/Lime+ Ginger/You shake/Crushed ice+White Rhum+Perrier/You shake/ then a squirt of Angostura. It's a Chupito, a revisited cocktail from our bar, Les Souffleurs, one night after (closing) hours, we were there drinking and having a few laughs and Niz Denox, dearest DJ friend of ours decided to make some Chupito and he added something he called "a tear of vanilla." It's my fave because it reminds me of that moment, anything with tears got soul.

3. Favorite fashion icon: Tony Ward, simply because the man is today more than ever, a pure sex magnet whatever he wears or doesn't wear, and his sex appeal crosses over to people of all sexual orientations.

4. Favorite outfit for a night out: At the moment so I'm obsessed with wrestling suits now (see picture on left), and also, showing a lil' leg goes a long way.

5. Favorite time of day in Paris: It's a time of the night actually when les Souffleurs bar closes down and we're all outside smoking the last cigarette, giving the last kiss, sharing the last story before heading to the next spot. That moment is pure; it's a feeling like "Spiritual Love" by Urban Species.
