As our site's 14-month anniversary celebration continues, we're pleased to bring you a spectacular 14-track mix by Belgium's Compuphonic, a name we think you will be hearing a lot of of next year. The nomb de plumb of Maxime Firket, who hails from Liège, Belgium, this up-and-comer has been slowly making waves since his debut in 2005. Over the years he's remixed for the likes of Crystal Fighters, Martin Solveig, The Presets, Arsenal and dEUS. His latest effort, a rousing track called "Sunset" with soul singer/violinist Marques Toliver (Bella Union, Bat For Lashes, Grizzly Bear, Holly Miranda, Mechanical Bride) for Berlin's Get Physical, sets the stage for his debut album dropping in 2013. Compuphonic's sound is deep, minimal and soulful. Below he explains the inspiration behind his mix.
I made this mix just after I got home after I had DJed at the Monegros Desert Festival in Spain, this incredibly unreal festival in the middle of nowhere somewhere between Barcelona and Zaragoza. The melancholic deep house vibe not only reflects how I felt but also the atmosphere at the festival as well. The opening track is my latest single on Get Physical "Sunset" and features the American singer Marques Toliver on vocals. I hope you enjoy it!
