Société Perrier DJ Mix: Tiefschwarz
Deep house/techno veterans Tiefschwarz – brothers Ali and Basti Schwarz – have built a formidable musical career in the underground dance world over the past 14 years, and they still sound as fresh and relevant as ever, as proven by an exclusive mix they’ve put together for Société Perrier.
It’s a typically masterful affair, full of crisp, luscious house vibes and refined minimal techno, equally at home on a club soundsystem or just a fine pair of headphones. The duo have chosen to not to supply a tracklist, so there’ll be no skipping through the mix to your favorite track here – just press play, sit back and enjoy the 60 minutes of audio expertise that they’ve provided.
The mix is also a taste of what you can expect if you’re lucky enough to be attending one of the duo’s performances at the Ibiza arm of Sankeys this summer, a clubbing institution started up in Manchester, UK, back in 1994. Tiefschwarz are playing the opening party of the Sankeys Ibiza summer season, so expect good things aplenty.
Ahead of their live dates, Tiefschwarz took the time to answer a few questions about mixes, the Ibiza vibe, and what’s in store for the future.
Tell us about your mix and why you chose some of the selected tracks.
Well, there’s not too much to say! It’s just a selection of some of our favorite dance tracks of the moment. I like the vibe of the mix, it’s not peak time but it has a nice flow.
You must put together a lot of mixes. How do you keep it fresh and enjoyable?
I guess… try to find a nice and interesting selection of tunes, old, new, unreleased… house, techno, disco or whatever!
What tracks are you enjoying playing in DJ sets at the moment?
We play a lot of demos we receive for our label, Souvenir, in order to see what works in the club, so it’s a great platform for us to test what we release on the label. Also, we try out our own productions and remixes. Besides that, generally what we’re enjoying at the moment — usually a combination of both old and new.
Are you pleased to be playing the Sankeys opening party?
Of course we’re pleased! Thanks to Sankeys!
Is Ibiza still a great place to play? What do you enjoy about it?
For sure, Ibiza is still a great place. It even gets better and better for us every year! On the one side it’s the energy of the clubs and the people who are really into it, coming specifically on holiday to party and enjoy the enormous musical options, but on the other hand it’s about the balance. We love to DJ but we also love the quieter northern side of the island with its nature and beaches.
What else do you have planned for the summer and beyond?
We’re working on a lot of our own new productions and remixes. Also, we’re looking forward to the next few Souvenir releases, especially our summer sampler, In The City vol. 2, which will be released in July with exclusive productions from some new talents who have recently joined the Souvenir family.
