Strawberry Petals on an Apple Triangle Make the Perfect Garnish

2_04COLLAGE_┬®L.DHERINES

This seasonal decoration is suitable for many classic cocktails to which it adds a delicate touch of natural freshness. To ensure the apple triangle and strawberry petals are very fresh, they must be prepared to order.

You will need:
- 1 red Starking apple
- 1 large strawberry
- Fresh basil
- 1 sharp knife

Step 1
Cut a good size slice out of the side of the apple, then shape into a triangle.

Step 2
Hull the strawberry then cut lengthways into two halves, then into four. Using a knife, make an incision into the strawberry quarter toward the center without cutting all the way through. Carefully remove the blade. Turn the strawberry quarter and make a similar incision on the opposite side so as to form a bevelled right angle. Create as many strawberry petals as possible in this way.

Step 3
Pick up the strawberry petals using the side of the blade and attach them to the apple triangle.

Step 4
Using a cocktail stick, pierce the apple and affix a head of fresh basil. Place the decoration on the edge of the glass using both hands.
