Upcoming Event: Jeff Koons @ Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt and Liebieghaus Skulpturensammlung (FRF)
A mainstay on the contemporary arts scene since the 1980s, Jeff Koons reached pioneer status with bold representations of consumerism, luxury and culture in painting and sculpture. This summer, the Schirn Kunsthalle and the Liebieghaus Skulpturensammlung will provide the backdrop for a selection of his seminal works, displaying his paintings and sculptures in two isolated exhibits.
In Jeff Koons. The Painter, over 40 works will be spread about the Schirn, each indicative of the the artist's structural development. Early works from Koons' Luxury & Degradation series and large-scale pieces from the Celebration will be displayed alongside the new Antiquity series, debuting at the exhibit.
For Jeff Koons. The Sculptor at the Liebieghaus, the artist's pieces will be intertwined with the museum's permanent collection. A myriad of contrasts will ensue, as 50 of Koons' contemporary works will enter a dialogue with sculptures ranging from antiquity to neoclassicism. Eavesdropping will obviously be in order.
Jeff Koons. The Painter and Jeff Koons. The Sculptor will be on display June 20 to September 23, 2012
