Upcoming Event: Mike Nelson at Malmö Konsthall (MMX)
Acclaimed British artist Mike Nelson is known for his enthralling sculptures and intricate large-scale architectural installations. With 408 Tons of Imperfect Geometry Nelson brings his artistry to Malmö Konsthall, with an institutional exhibition divided by a glass wall into two spaces; a smaller production workshop and an exhibition space stripped back to its original configuration.
The 408 tons of cast concrete blocks will be carried out and placed on the floor in a geometric pattern, a minimal form that is evocative of early decorative designs, widely used within many religious and comparative belief systems.
The late modernist design of Malmö Konsthall — one of the largest exhibition halls in Europe for contemporary art — is intended to affect us viscerally as well as intellectually.
Mike Nelson at Malmö Konsthall runs August 18 to October 21, 2012.
