Upcoming Event: Nora Schultz's @ Portikus Printing Plant and Portikus Sounds (FRA)
For Nora Schultz, the process of making her art is just as important as the finished product. The genesis in which the product is made is a key factor in the art itself — her work consisting of prints, printing machines, installations and performances.
In her new exhibition, Portikus Printing Plant and Portikus Sounds, Schultz will be occupying both floors of the Portikus building, fully taking over with a set of parallel production cycles composed of sculptural sound works and printing installations that repeatedly intersect over the course of the show. Accompanying field recordings taken from in and around the Frankfurt area, mixed with clips from movies and television shows will also be played throughout the museum to reflect on the duality of the spot itself, creating an authenticity to the project as it audibly represents the surrounding area. The multi-part printing plant which will be featured during the exhibit will be printing images from the installation, visualizing them in a new dimension. With this process, Schultz will be referencing a primitive writing technique in which ideas are set down or pictured directly as they come to mind.
This unorthodox exhibition will be an excellent opportunity to fully experience Schultz's talent, style and grace.
