Upcoming Event: Strummer of Love (UK)
The memory of Joe Strummer of The Clash lives on with the tenth edition of Strummer of Love, taking place amid the bucolic splendor of Blackdown Hills, Somerset in England. The three-day festival runs August 17-19 and mirrors Strummer's diverse musical taste with a lineup featuring an assortment of styles by The Pogues, Seasick Steve, Dub Pistols, Badly Drawn Boy, Roots Manuva, Basement Jaxx, Emmy the Great, Billy Bragg and The Justice Tonight Band (feat. Mick Jones, Pete Wylie & The Farm). According to promoters, a blazing campfire, which will burn for the duration of the festival, will ensure that Joe's love of conversation, his passion for people and extraordinarily unifying spirit will be undeniably represented.
Renowned artist Damien Hirst will unveil two painted guitars which have been produced to commemorate Joe Strummer and support Strummerville through a public raffle.
All funds raised by the event will go directly toward helping Strummerville: The Joe Strummer Foundation for New Music, a registered charity set up in honour of one of punk's most iconic protagonists.
Strummer of Love runs August 17-19.
