Visionaire Takes Magazines to the Third Dimension
The most recent issue of Visonaire is a bit different to say the least. Its unprecedented look and presentation manages to artfully balance retro and futurism in a neat little package. Launched last week at the Bienniel building in São Paulo, Visionaire 62 Rio is presented in a 3D lenticular box designed by the Campana Braothers. All of the images inside are set up to be viewed through a 19th-century style stereoscope which on looks some breath-taking photos.
While it's technically the Rio issue, the magazine truly celebrates all of Brazil featuring some of the country's key figures in art and fashion like Gisele Bündchen whose nude photograph was shot in 3D by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, transgender model Lea T shot by artist Maurizio Cattelan with Pierpaolo Ferrari and a painting of Adriana Lima on the Copacabana sidewalk by Richard Phillips among many others. The photos are pretty amazing even in two dimensions, so if you get a chance to take a peek through the stereoscope, prepare to be blown away.
