Gorillaz Collaborate with Outkast and James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem

Just when you thought the ever-expanding multi-media empire of Gorillaz had no new horizons to conquer, the world’s favorite virtual band puts a new foot forward — and a stylishly shod one at that — as part of a partnership with Converse. On February 23, Converse will unveil the new designs that have been created for its Gorillaz-themed line of sneakers. There will be four different styles in the line, which will combine the iconic design elements of the company’s classic Chuck Taylor shoes with images drawn from the visual universe of Gorillaz, like the Pazuzu character and the camouflage print from the first Gorillaz album.

But the sneakers aren’t the only new items that will see the light of day on the 23rd as part of this new partnership. In addition to the aforementioned fancy footwear, Gorillaz will be releasing a new track online to help announce the arrival of the cool new kicks. Three Artists. One Song is a continuing Converse-sponsored music series, and now Gorillaz will come together with the esteemed talents of Andre 3000 of Outkast and James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem fame for a collaboration on a cut called “DoYaThing.” The new song will be available for free download on the Converse website, where you’ll also be able to get all the info you need on the most musical sneakers of the season. And just in case that wasn’t enough, Gorillaz Sound System will be appearing at London’s 100 Club on February 15 to further fire up enthusiasm for the project.
