Nicholas Kirkwood Will Open Stateside Next Year

By Fawnia Soo Hoo

Société Perrier reported recently that British shoe designer Nicholas Kirkwood will bring his shoe designs stateside early next year. Now we know more about the exact location and scheduled opening. Kirkwood’s standalone boutique will open its doors in New York’s Meatpacking District. The future outpost will mark Kirkwood’s second shop — the is first is located on Mount St. in London. So far, Kirkwood obsessives on this side of the pond have had to fight over his amazingly architectural and ridiculously sexy heels at Saks Fifth Avenue, Barneys New York, Neiman Marcus, Jeffrey (Atlanta and New York), and Maxfield, to name a few.

In just seven years, the young British designer has quickly made a name for himself. His collaborations with cutting-edge labels Rodarte (oh, the dripping candle wax heels, the intricately-carved wedges, and now the killer cut-out textured ankle-boots — to die for…) and Erdem (camo-paint splashes!) are some of the most eye-catching and sought-after by shoe fanatics. Kirkwood was also awarded the Swarovski Emerging Talent for Accessories award in 2008 and has racked up three nominations from the British Fashion Awards thus far.

The New York Nicholas Kirkwood boutique is scheduled to open in early 2012 and will be a fantastic addition to the luxury shopping corridor that counts Diane Von Furstenberg, perfumer Bond No. 9, Yigal Azrouël, and Jeffrey New York as residents. You can bet we’ll be counting down the days until opening.
