The Latest on Kanye West’s Paris Fashion Week Debut

By Fawnia Soo Hoo

After being denied entry to a few shows during the last Paris Fashion Week, rapper, singer, producer, and Celine lady-shirt favoring fashion arbiter Kanye West is reportedly making an approved appearance this time around — by showing his debut Spring/Summer 2012 womenswear collection. Although the news is not officially confirmed, Harper’s Bazaar Australia reported on Tuesday that the self-proclaimed Louis Vuitton Don will show at 9:30pm on October 1, immediately following established Parisian fashion houses Jean Paul Gaultier and Loewe.

Additional rumors have been floating around as to who is working on the collection with West (Central Saint Martins prof Louise Wilson no, Brit designer Louise Goldinnope), and now Vogue UK has the exclusive confirmation that London-based designer Katie Eary has been tapped as one of his creative leads on the line. Eary was discovered upon her 2008 graduation from the Royal College of Art by British Vogue for a Mario Testino photo shoot of Kate Moss in her techno-colored designs. She now runs her own menswear and womenswear label.

That’s the update so far on this mystery-filled Kanye West fashion affair. The world is staying tuned.
