This year’s Toronto Fashion Week sees us saying farewell to long-time sponsor LG and ‘Hello dahling’ to new title sponsor World MasterCard. The show will return to David Pecaut Square to house the trendy troops as they trot between David Dixon, Bustle, Martin Lim and Pink Tartan. And those are just a few of the designers who’ll be gracing the 100ft-long catwalk this season in order to feed the fashion hungry crowd of 900, eagerly awaiting some inspiration and guidance about the essential styles to look out for come Fall 2012.

Highlights of the week include the ‘Dare to Wear Red’ Campaign. Aspiring runway divas have been encouraged to wear red for the month of February in order to fundraise for The Stephen Lewis Foundation, an organisation that works to fight AIDS and HIV in Africa. The top 3 earners get the rare opportunity to appear as models on The Grand Runway. Charity for Couture, now there’s a fashionable concept!

All eyes will of course be on Adrian Wu as he debuts his ‘Hierarchy of Needs’ collection. Wu is sure to cause quite the stir with his unconventional designs and an aim to focus on global political issues through his art.

In grand tradition, Holt Renfrew will again be kicking off the week of chic with a highly anticipated catwalk show, chock-full of daring designers including Jeremy Laing, Lida Baday, Dennis Merotto, Mackage, Line, Smythe, Twenty Cluny, and Judith & Charles. Be prepared to sharpen your elbows to get your pretty posterior in a seat for this one as Holts always proves to be the ‘haute’ ticket…

World MasterCard Toronto Fashion Week runs from March 12th to the 17th.  And now that the financial powerhouse is on board, I for one am excited for a show that is sure to be nothing short of priceless.
