Music: Unzipped
While the news of Madonna’s concert in the capital may have pop fans anxiously awaiting June 3rd, many Dubai dwellers are looking for something a little, well, younger, when it comes to their audio pleasures. Thankfully, The Music Room, one of the city’s leading venues for local music, that has launched a new night called Unzipped where you can hear UAE favourites, find new talent and support our regional music scene.
Previous acts have included rockers Sandwash, with the coming weeks offering a mix of genres to keep lovers of original music happy. Look out for DJ violinist Tar3k V, on February 16th, who blends orchestral pieces with MCing and DJing, while the 23rd sees Fables of Cantt take to the stage with an amalgamation of punk, rock and Indian classical from Pakistani singer/songwriter Nabil Qizilbash collaborating with a group of Dubai-based musicians.
Held each Thursday from 9pm, tickets cost Dhs50 and proceeds go direct to the performers.
