Carnivorous Cocktails: Meat-Infused Drinks Hit Camden
The sign above the door at South African restaurant and bar Shaka Zulu in Camden doesn’t read ‘Pleased To Meet You, Meat To Please You’, but it probably should.
Shaka Zulu’s latest concept in a Meat Bar serving carnivorous cocktails for meat-loving cocktail drinkers - punters can choose from three very unique libations, the Bloody Bacon, the Meatequita and the Wheeling Salmon (just in case any pescetarians pay a visit!).
The Bloody Bacon is a take on the classic Bloody Mary made with bacon-infused vodka and served with a slither of smoked bacon, cherry tomatoes and soft cheese. The Meatequita, meanwhile, sounds frightening – it’s a heady combination of tequila reposado infused with chorizo, balsamic vinegar, vegetable juice port and smoked salt and pepper. It comes garnished with chorizo and strips of biltong.
Finally, the Wheeling Salmon is a traditional martini (well, as traditional as a fish martini can be) made with smoked salmon-infused vodka mixed with lemon pepper and ice. It comes with smoked salmon and olive accompaniments.
The concept of mixing meat and cocktails is not as rare (pardon the pun) as you might think, as the bacon and egg martini has been on the menu at the London Cocktail Club for a couple of years, but the Meat Bar takes things to a whole new level.
Cheers!
