Club of the Week: RE:PLAY
Taken at face value this new club night at the Bedroom Bar in swinging Shoreditch offers nothing different from the myriad other nights out there, but scratch the surface and you’ll find an original night with a twist.
Renowned club DJs are invited to play an extended set with the caveat that at some point during their set they will switch genres and play music from a particular point in their career. This period won’t be announced during the set – it’s up to fans to guess when the switch is taking place.
This week Justin Robertson is at the helm, and given the different genres he’s worked in over the years (acid house, techno, electro, house, rock, northern soul) it’ll be quite a challenge working out exactly when he’s hit the ‘go’ button on the metaphorical time machine.
Whatever happens, it promises to be a cracking night.
Also on at the Bedroom Bar on Saturday (downstairs) is The Red Hot Grind Show which is a night of exotica funk, burlesque boogie and electro-billy which sees a live show from Voola & The Jayhawks and DJ sets from Madera Verde and Rumble.
