London’s Top Bartenders Show Off Their Cocktail Creativity
There’s nothing a good bartender likes more than the chance to show off their cocktail creativity. So when you take the ones plying their trade at ten of the very best bars in London and give them a stage to perform, you expect great things. And that’s just what they delivered. We know, as we were there earlier this week for the Bols ‘Show Your Colours’ event taking place at Paramount Bar atop Centre Point.
Check out this little list of participating bars: Callooh Callay, The American Bar at The Savoy, Roast, LAB, Paramount, London Cocktail Club, Gilbert Scott, The Connaught, Rules and Artesian (pictured). Not too shabby in our humble opinion.
Each bar had the opportunity to show what they could do with Bols Genever and Bols Natural Yoghurt liqueur. We sampled everything from twists on classics from The American Bar and Rules to serves in yogurt pots from Callooh Callay and toasted marshmallow garnishes from Gilbert Scott.
And talking of garnishes, we were also treated to the boys from Artesian delivering a take on a Tiki which came complete with an elaborate swizzle stick, pineapple leaves and a crocodile head (yes, a crocodile head) clutching a miniature bottle of Bols in its jaw. But it wasn’t just about presentation every drink delivered brilliantly on the taste front too.
The event was the brain child of Mr John Clay, Lucas Bols Brand Ambassador, and key to his idea was that it shouldn’t be a competition but more of a coming together of London bartending talent to celebrate and showcase the breadth of choice and depth of talent in the UK’s capital.
We think he did a great job and in keeping with his ethos, we’re not going to single out any one bar as our favourite. However, we will just say we agree that we’re very lucky to have this kind of talent mixing up our cocktails - whether or not you want your drink garnished with a crocodile head.
