Prada Brings Added Style to London Olympics
Following the unveiling of the Stella McCartney-designed Team GB kit for this summer’s Olympic Games, fashion powerhouse Prada has announced it will sponsor the Italian sailing team at the Games.
The Italian label will design and supply the athlete’s clothing and footwear as well as kitting out the team’s technical staff.
Prada’s involvement in sailing isn’t new as it has sponsored a handful of America’s Cup campaigns and regattas. The Italian team hopes that the label’s experience in designing sailing apparel will give them an edge at the Olympics.
“We are extremely proud to have Prada as a sponsor,” said Carlo Croce, the president of the Italian Sailing Federation. "The Prada brand is not just a flagship of Italy worldwide, but it has always been very closely connected to our sport and has nearly become synonymous with major sailing challenges. Hence, this agreement reaches beyond a classic sponsorship arrangement, to become a full-fledged partnership.”
Prada’s CEO Patrizio Bertelli added: “For a brand like Prada, which is so closely connected to the top level of this sport, it thus comes naturally to encourage and support those sailors who may play a key role in other challenges in the future.”
