Salvatore Calabrese Launches 'World's Best' Lemon Liqueur [Recipes]
World famous mixologist Salvatore Calabrese has launched his very own Liquore di Limone.
Billed as the ‘best lemon liqueur in the world’ as it was unveiled by Calabrese at Salvatore’s bar in the Playboy Club, Old Park Lane, Liquore di Limone is a fusion of Amalfi lemons from his native Italy and fine Cognac.
Speaking at the launch he said: “Growing up in Italy where the Amalfi lemons grow, I always thought there was the possibility of producing an outstanding lemon liqueur as there is for oranges.”
“This became my labour of love - to show the world what a true Amalfi lemon liqueur in perfect harmony should taste like. I think with Liquore di Limone I have finally succeeded.”
Liquore di Limone is delicious on its own as a digestif or on the rocks as an aperitif, but it also works tremendously well in cocktails.
Calabrese has designed a handful of new serves using his Liquore di Limone, here are our favourites (ingredients left).
Amalfi Dream
Pour all the ingredients into a shaker filled with ice. Shake sharply to break the mint leaves. Strain into an old fashioned glass filled with ice allowing the fragments of mint to flow into the drink, garnish with a slice of lemon and sprig of mint.
Red Earl Martini
Place the ginger in the bottom of the shaker and muddle to extract the flavour, add all the remaining ingredients and ice, shake, double strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with [either] two fresh raspberries on a cocktail stick with a mint leaf sitting on the edge of the glass.
