Upcoming Event: Alabama Shakes @ Boston Arms
The Shakes, as they were known up until quite recently, have been causing some vibrations over in the US and it hasn't taken long for these ripples to reach the UK - and this is all without even having released their first album.
The four-piece from Alabama (not surprisingly) is made up of singer Brittany Howard, guitarist Heath Fogg, Zac Cockrell on bass and drummer Steve Johnson. They are quite rightly likened to Janis Joplin; belting out of heartfelt, soul over some high energy garage rock.
Their folky, honest style is earning them some real brownie points and we can't wait to get them over here!
They have attracted some high profile followers too - Adele, David Byrne and Booker T Jones have all taken a fancy - which will no doubt help with the promotion.
This performance, taking place at the Boston Arms Tufnell Park, is likely to be one of their last before they blast into the mainstream and collect a bandwagon of followers. Catch them while you can.
