Kate Mantilini Celebrates 25th Anniversary with New Cocktail Menu
If you find yourself longing for the golden age of Hollywood when everything was just so classy and glamorous, then a trip to the historic Beverly Hills eatery, Kate Mantilini, is just what the doctor prescribed to satisfy your nostalgia fix. Established in 1987 by former Hamburger Hamlet owners, Harry and Marilyn Lewis, Kate Mantilini oozes of old Hollywood with its classy décor and scrumptious bites. This year, the swanky restaurant turns 25 and in order to celebrate this milestone, they revamped the joint and installed a cocktail program that will reflect the establishment’s glamorous past. Overseeing the new program is Devon Espinosa, who honed his mixology skills at the Tasting Kitchen, Ink and Pour Vous. When creating the restaurant’s first cocktail menu, Espinosa drew inspiration from the classic drinks from the Hollywood bygone era
“My inspiration for Kate Mantilini's new cocktail list was to create a list that gave a nod to the classic cocktails from Hollywood's golden era, made fresh with real ingredients and the latest mixers, luxury ice and made the traditional way,” said Espinosa.
And boy did Espinosa deliver. The menu consists of eight delicious cocktails that will no doubt be crowd pleasers. There’s the Key Largo, made with Sailor Jerry's spiced rum, coconut, lime and falernum, based on Lewis’s character in the classic Hollywood movie. If you’re lucky, you might find yourself sipping on the Table 24, made with Dewar's white label, St. Germaine, ginger, honey and blackberries, at the famed table 24 where Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino were filmed together for the first time in the film Heat. And you can never go wrong with the Don Draper, a Mad Men old-fashioned variation made with Buffalo Trace bourbon, Carpano Antica vermouth, Jelnick Fernet and Allspice Dram. So relive the glory days of Kate Mantilini with a cocktail or two and you’ll be better person for it.
