L.A. Art Show: Modern & Contemporary @ Los Angeles Convention Center
Tonight kicks off the new L.A. Art Show: Modern & Contemporary which will be hosted by David Arquette on its opening night. Among the featured exhibitors is Devo frontman Mark Mothersbaugh, who will be presenting an interactive sculpture consisting of a Scion car linked to a trailer consisting of two Scion halves that patrons can walk into and listen to music. A collection of Mothersbaugh's prints will also be on display at the event. Elana Mann and Audrey Chan will also be there, re-creating Leslie Labowitz-Starus' 1977 performance, "The Myths of Rape," a demonstration of the relevance of activism and interventions synonymous with 1970s protests that still carries the same weight today. There will also be a China Pavillion, which will feature a display of traditional Chinese arts, starting with the Qing Dynasty with the reading room of Jiang Bin, through traditional Buddhist paintings that bridge the old world of China with modern art. All of this and several other artist and gallery highlights will be featured this weekend at the L.A. Art Show.
