Murs Goes 'Through The Mic' at LACMA

MURS

The L.A. County Museum of Art (LACMA) will be branching out into hip-hop with a program of concerts co-curated by acclaimed rapper and co-founder of the Paid Dues festival, Murs, beginning later this month.

The new series, Through The Mic, will explore the city’s thriving contemporary hip hop scene, with Murs’ 3MG outfit (also featuring Scarub and Eligh – previously known collectively as 3 Melancholy Gypsies,) reuniting for their first live show in five years to kick off the series on May 17.

“For too long, Los Angeles hip-hop has been seen as one dimensional ‘gangsta rap.’ With this new series, we’re giving our city’s hip-hop artists an amazing platform to show not only our community, but the world, that we have so much more to offer,” said Murs about the series on the LACMA website.

Through The Mic will take place on the third Thursday of every month at LACMA, from May-October.
