Theophilus London is Having the Best Summer Ever

Theophilus London

Between dropping a hot remix album and his impressive Rose Island Vol. I mixtape, traveling and playing shows all over the world and designing a limited edition LVRS Rose Island Slipper with luxury shoe company Del Toro, Theophilus London could very well be having the best summer ever.

"This summer has been good," says London from his apartment in Nolita, sounding upbeat and cheerful. "I've been to Europe and all over the place. Now I'm home and I'm trying to take it easy. When I'm on the road I get so bored — especially if I don't have WiFi — so I keep sketching, designing, having small little meetings in the [tour] bus. When I'm on tour I just want to perform and design. So now I'm going to slow down, stop performing and start writing the next album."

As for the aforementioned Del Toro slipper collaboration, London says the genesis of the collaboration dates back to the beginning of the year. "In January I got invited to [Del Toro boss] Matthew Chevallard's  house, and we talked about a collab between my brand, LVRS, and I later sent him a design and we got it underway. I like the fact that [the slipper] makes an outfit look luxurious and you can still dress down and still be able to wear it to clubs and dinners. I wanted to do this for my fans, and between that an the Rose Island Vol. I mixtape things came together."

London will close out his amazing summer by playing the Mad Decent Block Party in Los Angeles featuring Munchi, Dawn Golden & Rosy Cross, Paul Devro, Zeds Dead and others, where he'll bring his expanded band and a new live set. "It's my third time laying for Mad Decent in L.A. It's a cool thing to do. They know how to work their brand and bring out cool kids. I always try to make the next show better."

Despite the wear and tear of the road, London is elated with how his career is going. "It's been a great year for me. I'm happy I have so many supporters and can still push the album that dropped last summer," he says. "I'm excited now to write my new album in September. I can't wait!"
