Vivienne Westwood Unveils Red Carpet Capsule Collection

Vivienne Westwood

According to Dame Vivienne Westwood, “you have a much more interesting life if you wear impressive clothes.” And after viewing her latest collection, it's easy to see how right she is. Last night at her showroom in West Hollywood, there was a little fête for the unveiling of Westwood’s Red Carpet Capsule Collection with a live fashion show of the couture gowns. The dresses drew inspiration from her other collections as well as the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee.

The collection is made up of an array of luxury fabric including silk satins, taffeta, organza, crêpe de chine and double georgettes in shades of grey, aqua, powder pink, nude, petrol, coral and ivory. The pieces are very elegant and glamorous with gowns that are draped and grecian inspired cocktail dresses with short or long corsets that Westwood is known for. They include the print of the iconic British flag, The Union Jack, which has been featured many times throughout her past collections. The one in this line is made from a vintage flag from her Gold Label, which was highlighted in her last show in Paris.

It’s no wonder her dresses are popular among the young Hollywood starlets and A-listers as well as the fashionable crowd. When you wear one of her gowns, you can’t help but feel like a queen.
