Turns out, Gordon's look wasn't always loud and free. In fact, her first fashion memories involved school uniforms in the UK. Find out more about how she went from classic to crimped to cool.

What was your style like as a kid?
Kimberley Gordon: I wore very matchy-matchy sets when I was in the UK. I think because my mother loved me in them, she has amazing style. When I moved to the U.S. it was a lot of Bugs Bunny T-shirts and jean shorts. I was quite a tomboy because I didn’t really care about my clothes, more about the cartoons on my clothes.

When did you become interested in clothes?
I always loved clothes. My mother couldn’t believe how girly I was — she didn’t know where it came from. The first time I can remember being really obsessed with something was my friend Tammy’s coat when I was eight. It fit like a dress, zipped up and was tight on top then A-lined out. I searched everywhere for one with my mum but to no avail. I remember I wanted it so badly I would panic when I thought about it, as you can see it’s haunted me ever since.

Were you a trendsetter in school?
(Laughs) Not so much, but I always dressed very... differently. I wore bell bottoms and vintage T-shirts in junior high — which was a little daring, but no one emulated me at all. In high school, I sewed a lot of my own T-shirts and made denim leg warmers. I was a bit of a candy raver (JNCO jeans, tiny tanks, scratch-and-sniff  T-shirts, heavy lip liner). I know people noticed my style and pointed it out a lot but mostly because they didn’t understand it. I totally feel them...

Any cringe-worthy outfits to look back on?
Oh yeah, my worst time was probably aged 19, I was the most obsessed with Britney Spears at that point and I showed belly that should never be shown. I also crimped my hair in sections and wore denim hats... Oh lord.

What is the most memorable outfit from your youth?
Probably my tiny Spice Girls T-shirt (it was kids' size) and my JNCO jeans. The boys used to stick their binders in my back pockets, that’s how big they were.

Has anything you liked to wear as a kid made a comeback recently?
That would be frightening. Maybe neon stuff? I hope Tevas come into style, they almost do and I cross my fingers every time. They are hilarious!

What's your favorite fashion piece of the moment?
I'm obsessed with my black Prada platforms, I wear them with little white socks. I cradle them like a baby.

These days Liao is a cutting edge style expert who is always on trend, whether it's elevated on chunky platforms or decked out in contrasting stripes, mesh, crop tops and bustiers. "My style would be best described as Parisian grunge Chic," she says. "I love mixing elements of feminine and edge along with some modern class." Her forward vision of fashion stands out across the web, netting her features in foreign editions of Cosmopolitan, splashed across the screen of online shopping hub Nasty Gal time and time again, Seventeen and Teen Vogue.

"I've been given the opportunity to be featured in some of my favorite publications, work in a social media position for a clothing company and meet new people along the way," Liao says of her favorite opportunities to emerge from her blog. Other highlights include attending New York Fashion Week, an experience that fits well with her blog's title. "I'm looking forward to next season! New York City has been one of my favorite places that I've been to within the states." When asked what inspired her wanderlust from which her blog takes its name, Liao notes "I moved around a lot when I was younger. I've always loved to be in new places. I love being a stranger to a new city." As for what's next on her itinerary? "I'm currently planning my summer 2014 with travels to Korea and Japan, but I also hope to be able to travel to London, Australia, Hong Kong and France in the future. Paris is a city full of romance and style, so I think it would be the perfect place to live in when I'm in my 20s."

A year ago, Liao left the foggy streets of San Francisco for the palm tree lined streets of downtown Los Angeles where she currently resides. "I moved to Los Angeles to find more opportunities for myself. I also wanted to live in a new environment," she says of the shift. Of the difference between the two locales, Liao continues that "San Francisco is more relaxed versus Los Angeles being the bustling city that it is. The weather is also very different, however both SF and L.A. have similar tastes and diversity in style." Since the move she's "been gravitating more towards modern, classic pieces with an edgy twist."

Currently enrolled as a full-time student, Liao is pursuing a degree in communications with an eye on becoming a creative director. "I would also love to be a contributing editor for a fashion magazine, style editorials and have my own clothing line." Currently she's working on the launch of an online vintage shop with an eye to open it up in the summer or fall. Of what draw her to those roles, her reason applies to attraction to fashion as a whole. "I love anything creative and hands on. I love the idea of being able to bring a vision to life. And in fashion, the room for creativity is endless and at the same time it's really just fun."

How did you decide to create a site solely devoted to bikinis?
Ally Lopez Eckert: Being that we both grew up in Hawaii, we literally grew up in swimwear. Speaking about the latest bikini trends or the best bag to haul your beach essentials in, is something that we not only love, but something that we know because it's part of our everyday life.

Tiana Gamble: We both were raised on the beach in Hawaii and lived in bikinis. It seemed like the easiest thing for us to write about. I have always been obsessed with swimwear and have kept a collection of bikinis since I was a kid. We both moved to L.A. and loved following fashion blogs, but we felt we needed a blog that let you dream about your next vacation. We also love the freedom of color and prints. It's an excuse for me to escape into my dream beach day wearing all of my favorite things.

How do you create your editorials?
Eckert: We really try to create editorials that make swimwear and acessories more accessible to our readers. We are always on the lookout for the latest trends and products while still providing info that is relevant and shopable for our readers at the same time. We absolutely love putting our photo editorials together. There are so many amazing brands but even more amazing are the creatives behind these brands. We get so inspired by what these brands are producing, so photo editorials only seem natural to really call attention to some of our favorites. We get to connect with an amazing group of people for a day or two, from the brands to the photographers to the models and make up artist, everyone has the best vibes and creative synergy.

Gamble: We usually partner with a photographers that we are friends with, or we have met through our blog. The same with our make up artist and models. It's a big team effort. We partner with the photographer to put together a concept then contact brands that will work with the vibe of the shoot. It's a very fun and creative process.

What are some new brands to look out for in 2013?
Eckert: Beach Riot is a total favorite and I am always so excited to see what she comes up with. Everything she (Nicole Hanriot) designs is so different and fresh. Minimale Animale is completely original and we cannot wait to the latest collection. Also Marysia Swim out of New York is so different and bold and at the same time feminine and pretty.

Gamble: There are so many to love: Minimale Animale, Stone Cold Fox for Beach Riot, Lee+Lani and Clover Canyon Swim.

What do you look for in a bathing suit?
Eckert: I always look for fit. There are a ton of suits that I absolutely love but if they don't fit my body well, I won't feel comfortable. Acacia swimwear is definitely one of my go-tos because of the cut of their suits and their sizing is always consistent and each year she completely nails it with her prints.

Gamble: I love bright, bold prints and silhouettes that are interesting. Mara Hoffman always has amazing prints and I love the new one piece by Beach Riot for Stone Cold Fox. I also appreciate well made swimwear, that fits well. Growing up, I was always a huge fan of brazilian swimwear by Salinas, because they had the best fabrics and fit. I really look for quality fabric that will not fade.

What kind of brands do you like to wear when you're not in a bikini?
Eckert: I have a white T-shirt, black denim or cut-offs uniform. I can't get enough of anything Ksubi and Rag & Bone. And of course, One Teaspoon for my denim cutoffs.

Describe the perfect beach day.
Eckert: I absolutely just love hanging at the beach with my three little ladies. I love packing a huge cooler of food and heading down to one the the river mouths and posting up all day. There is no better feeling than coming home from a long day at the beach and your a little sun burned, really tired, hungry but perfectly relaxed.

Gamble: A summer day on the North Shore with a bunch of friends. When the winds are light, there is no crowd and the waves are flat. All the kids play in the tide pools and its perfect to snorkel for shells and have a couple cocktails on the beach.

Favorite beach in the world?
Eckert: The beauty of tunnels beach on Kauai still leaves me breathless no matter how many times I get to see it. But, I have to say growing up on Maui makes me a die hard Hookipa fan — doesn’t get much better.

Gamble: Waimea Bay is the beach I grew up going to as a kid and my absolute favorite. It the most amazing sight when you head to the North Shore of Oahu.

Who do you really want to see in a bikini?
Eckert: Kate moss. Also some of our friends in New York because their style is so different from the West Coast.

Gamble: Jimmy Fallon, because he is so hot right now.

With that experience, it's no exaggeration to say that Hirsch has come a long way since the early adopter days. Hirsch's undeniable vision gained her a loyal following through editorials that pull inspiration from all over the web, like a recent posting showcasing crisp white blazers and trousers from Zara and other finds. (If you're curious, one spot she checks on the daily is Trendland). "I don’t post my outfits, that’s not what my blog is. It’s a highly curated editorialized blog," Hirsch explains.

Hirsch's claim to fame is certainly the blog, but she sees it more as a mean to an end in affording her opportunities she couldn't have had otherwise. Because Im Addicted led to editorials in mags like Foam and Lucky and a slew of collaborations, including a recent one curating looks for Topshop. With all that styling experience, it only made sense that she'd soon be designing a collection of her very own, which was just released a few weeks ago with Lovers + Friends. "I did everything from creative direction of the look book to hiring the model," says Hirsch of her involvement with the clothes, the result of which are a restrained but memorable collection of clean cut blazers, statement trousers and classy party clothes that any blogger would be proud to showcase.

But Hirsch's real passion right now lies in her pet project, LEAFtv. LEAF is a video tutorial series that covers living, eating and fashion. For Hirsch, it's what all the other things she's been doing have been leading up to. According to her, LEAF is, "Martha Stewart for twenty something girls... You take 140 characters of Twitter plus the beauty and consumption of Pinterest and start putting that into video form." The videos are usually around sixty seconds, and there's no speaking in them, which means that there's no limit to the audience that can be reached. They're covering all the bases: if you watch one of her cooking videos and don't know how to hard boil an egg or sautée chicken, there are twenty second videos covering any cooking skill you could possibly imagine.

LEAF was successfully funded this past summer and Hirsch has been hard at work shooting thirty videos per month with her small team. "Last week we shot a series on smoothies, and we did a whole day on beauty. The week before that we did a whole shoot around meals. This week we’re doing all DIY stuff."

A Barney's video collab is just one example of how LEAF is taking off. Recently, Hirsch teamed up with them to do a series of shoppable summer packing series. "[We] produced three videos. One was how to wear a little black dress in four ways, the other how to pack for your spring vacation, and the other [about] what to wear out late at night."

Hirsch says her blog has been incredibly useful as a way to bounce ideas for LEAF off her audience, who are presumably a high concentration of style savvy women. The girl who watches LEAF might want to learn how to put on the perfect shimmery blue eye shadow without looking like Mimi from Drew Carey or make an awesome blood orange lemonade, but she also wants to learn other skills too.

"So any girl who doesn’t know how to cook could really get involved in our brand and essentially pick up a crash course in culinary school online," Hirsch says.

Because fashionistas gotta eat too.

How did you come up with the name?
Cydney Morris: It come from one of our favorite movies, Sophia Coppola's The Virgin Suicides. Trip puts his arm around Lux in the movie theaters and calls her a stone cold fox. Its a '70s saying when you mean someone is a babe.

Describe your design aesthetic.
Its very flowy, non-form fitting, boutique wear. We try to make everything feel timeless, and not trendy. Its a bit bohemian but also structured at the same time. Lots of clean lines and no fussiness.

What's your sexiest piece this season?
This past season, it would probably be the Mystery gown, its a great cut gown, but it has sheer paneling.

Does L.A. have any influence on your designs?
Yeah, tons., I usually design around items that I want to wear. It's very based on our lives and the things we do, the places we travel and the garments we want to wear.

You have a lot of beautiful women on your Tumblr. If you could pick one ultimate stone cold fox, who would it be?
Hmm, Lara Stone, Kate Moss... I mean I could go on and on, but they are my favorites.

Where do you like to go for a cocktail after a busy week?
I love Villain's Tavern in downtown L.A., Rose wine bar in Venice, and Wolf In Sheep's Clothing.

Where do you go out on the town?
Usually in Venice. We ride our bikes to bars, have long fun dinners, go to friends' houses and art shows. It changes every weekend.

The best place to wear one of your pieces is…
Your birthday party, when you want to look special and be the best looking girl at the party. Or when you see one of your ex- boyfriends.

“The fanny pack was so liberating I couldn’t live without it, so I decided the thing I had to do was redesign it,” explains Debra Denniston.

Last year they debuted a line of nine bags. Made with soft faux leather, high quality woven fabrics, and lined with silk, the bags also come with a matching wallet. Despite a lack of experience in the fashion world, the ladies knew they wanted to create utilitarian bags that would work for the busy but fashionable city girl. Rachel likens the HfS woman to someone like French Vogue editor Emmanuelle Alt. "She doesn't wear bags ever. She has the pants and blazer look," Rachel says.

Hipsters for Sisters is the first company of its kind, devoted solely to creating high-end eco friendly, cruelty free belt bags. The line is a great addition to a military aesthetic dominating the latest runways of designers like Phillip Lim and rag & bone, but is very much an L.A. bred philosophy.

“[In Los Angeles] you can wear your belt bag almost all year round. If you’re wearing tons of big bulky jackets, the belt bag is probably not going to look good. But it looks cute over blazers, over lighter weight jackets,” Debra muses. “I don’t think we would have invented this [company] if we lived in New York.”
