Axwell Invades Miami Music Week
You might think that being a member of Swedish House Mafia and starting his own label, Axtone Records, would be enough to keep even an artist/entrepreneur like Axwell occupied. But the aforementioned duties haven't prevented him from mounting an invasion of Miami Music Week, taking over the party scene with his Axtone crew and hosting a contest that is the DJ equivalent to an old-school battle of the bands.
March 21 will find Axwell and his accomplices Jacques Lu Cont, Thomas Gold, and NO_ID throwing down the beats all night long in a special event at Amnesia to kick things off. The following Sunday, March 25, the Axtone invasion continues with a pool party at the Surfcomber, where the Swedish House Mafioso will be joined by Arty, Calvin Harris, and Funkagenda, among others. And just in case you thought Axwell didn't have his finger in enough Miami Music Week pies, there's the DJ competition he's overseeing, where aspiring mixmeisters will be judged by the man himself, and whoever comes out on top will play an opening set at both Axtone events, in addition to receiving a cash prize and additional perks. From the looks of things, MMW 2012 just might end up being best remembered as the year Sweden came to South Beach.
