Fashion Bloggers Enjoy a Night Out
Fashion bloggers are plentiful in Miami, and what greater way to celebrate the resurgence of fashion in the Magic City than with an evening from the front row? More than 200 fashionistas tucked away their laptops and their WordPresses and joined local media maven Maria Arguello at Neiman Marcus Coral Gables last night.
Arguello hosted a panel of some of the city's most well-known style bloggers and editors from Daily Candy, Miami.com, and Refinery 29, such as Jenny Lopez, Kar Gar, Maria Tettamanti, Ginger Harris and Annie Vazquez. They taught attendees how easy it really is to start a blog, discussed how they started, and how to catch the attention of a street style photographer. According to Kar Gar, it's not all about designers with heavy price tags. "It's not what you're wearing. It's how you're wearing it."
No topic was off limits, as they talked about how long it takes to get ready in the morning (Jenny Lopez insisted she only takes 25 minutes, and Harris rebutted, "Well, that's because you're a model, too" to tons of chuckles), what products they recommend, and how to actually make a living as a blogger. The crowd ranged from 20-somethings to 40-somethings, and as they asked questions to the experts, we felt more like we were at a stylish all-girl slumber party than at a standard, boring seminar. But that's the perk of attending a blogger panel in the middle of the second floor of a department store, isn't it?
If that weren't enough, a fashion show followed, featuring looks from the latest Spring and Summer 2012 collections of Alice+Olivia, Winter Kate, Alexander Wang and Marc Jacobs. A great end to a fashionable Wednesday.
