The inaugural Art Wynwood International Contemporary Art Fair will open President's Day Weekend bringing a touch of Art Basel in February and further solidifying the burgeoning Wynwood Arts District as a premiere cultural destination for contemporary art.

Held in the spacious 100,000 square-foot Art Miami Pavillion, the fair will showcase more than 500 artists from 50 galleries representing 13 countries. It will feature paintings, photography, sculpture, and performance art, as well as video and new media installations.

Kicking off with a VIP Private Preview on Thursday evening, February 16th, the fair will run through Monday, February 20th. Some of the highly anticipated work on display includes Luis Valenzuela's eco-friendly, sustainable fashion with gowns inspired by artists such as Dali and Picasso.

Tony Goldman, a Wynwood District vanguard and curator of Wynwood Walls, will exhibit what he describes as "the flying murals of Wynwood" in the fair's VIP Lounge with six 8' x 24' mural installations by international artists, including Retna, How & Nosm, DAZE, Aiko, and Futura.

Internationally acclaimed filmmaker and artist Peter Sarkisian will exhibit his video art Mind Under Matter/Matter Over Mind, Ink Blot, and Book 1 utilizing tiny projectors and sound. The effect suggests a loss of communication with projections of floating pencils, ink-covered figures struggling to reach a note pad, and the process of a dictionary being revised and rewritten.

During the VIP Private Preview on Thursday night, guests will be treated to a performance by Indian visual artist Amrita Sen, better known as Bollydoll. Sen was the voice behind the song "Jai-Ho" from the Oscar Award-winning film Slumdog Millionaire. He will transform Art Wynwood's Pavillion Cafe into a splashy Bollywood production, spotlighting the fair's international chops.
