Miami Beyond Art Basel: NADA, PULSE and Scope
We know, we know. You're focusing on Art Basel Miami, all the time, right now. But let's not forget the rest of the art fairs that are going down this week as part of the overall Miami Art Week. In case you need a quick summary, here's the scoop on where else to drop by to get your contemporary art fill. Plus, what a fantastic way to experience the Magic City. It's a full on art-a-palooza this week!
PULSE Miami Art Fair, December 1 through December 4
The Lowdown: Founded in 2005, the PULSE Contemporary Art Fair is dedicated solely, to well, contemporary art. Divided into two curated sections — emerging and established galleries, the festival will feature 90 exhibitors from around the world. Contemporary artists range from the legendary Robert Mapplethorpe to South African artist Pieter Hugo to Mac Premo's The Dumpster Project. PULSE is also bringing back its video lounge series, this year featuring Domesticity II by Lucie Fontaine.
Where: The Ice Palace, 1400 North Miami Avenue, Miami, FL 33136

NADA Miami Beach, December 1 through December 4
The Lowdown: NADA actually stands for New Art Dealers Alliance, which is a non-profit collective of contemporary art professionals. So basically, this is like the indie, edgy, arty place to be to spot the up-and-coming artists and galleries this week. The fair was founded in 2003 with just 35 exhibitors and now it's grown to the extensive global list that you can peruse here. If you think about it, NADA will probably be a fabulous street style spotting venue, too.
Where: The Deauville Beach Resort, 6701 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33141

Scope Miami, November 29 through December 4
The Lowdown: Scope Miami (an extension of Scope Basel and Scope New York) celebrates its eleventh year in the city this week. With 80 galleries from around the world participating, Scope is back in action again to focus on its niche of solo and thematic group shows in its very own Pavilion. The art fair also includes collector tours (like one that features Damien Hirst and Banksy designed stickers), screenings and yes, parties.
Where: SCOPE Pavilion, NE 1st Ave (Midtown Blvd), Miami, FL 33127
