Misael Soto to Take His Giant Towel on the Road
Like many South Floridians did this past Memorial Day, artist Misael Soto hit Miami Beach, ready to enjoy a day of sand and surf. In typical fashion he brought swim trunks and shades. In not-so-typical fashion, he brought a 56-by-29-foot towel and invited strangers to lay on it. This is the type of art the Soto creates — pieces and projects intended to promote social interaction and eliminate the awkwardness associated with meeting new people.
Following a total of thee Miami Beach appearances thus far, the towel is headed on a tour of the Eastern seaboard starting July 29. The ten-destination jaunt includes stops in Jacksonville, Nags Head and Rockaway Beach. View the full tour schedule here, as the towel may be coming to a beach near you. [via Miami New Times]
