Penguin Prison Wraps Ricochet's Music Loves Art Series

Penguin Prison getting up close and personal with the fans

Just because Miami Art Week was ending on Sunday didn't mean the party was completely over yet. Art enthusiasts, music lovers, and Basel revelers-at-large gravitated to Ricochet Bar & Lounge to catch the final concert in Spotify's Music Loves Art Series.

Penguin Prison, New York City's electro-pop trio, took the stage as the evening's headliner, performing for a laid-back crowd despite their invite-only status. Ricochet's owner Alan Roth presided over the party, chatting up patrons by the bar at his new Midtown lounge. A few minutes into the set, waitresses paraded through the audience offering up McDonald's Big Macs atop silver platters.

Penguin Prison's Sunday night show marked the final of the Music Loves Art series. Their half hour set concluded with an encore of their album's bonus track "Animal Animal."

The newest addition to the burgeoning Midtown scene, Ricochet is a respite from South Beach's club madness. The dimly lit lounge with its sleek triangular bar and banquette seating features a solid cocktail menu, as well as light bites from chef Kris Wessel of Red Light. With video art and a series of coasters designed by local art luminaries, Ricochet is hitting its mark in the artsy, late night neighborhood.
