Upcoming Event: Miami Vinyl: The History of Record-Making in Miami, Part I @ Miami Art Museum
Before there was house, there was disco, and before that, there was soul, funk and R&B. Following the track record of dance music can be an interesting and enlightening inquisition, which is why the Miami Art Museum is hosting a multiple part panel discussion called The History of Record-Making in Miami, a way of dissecting and exploring pre-disco grooves that got the whole ball rolling on modern dance music. The event will be hosted by Andrew Yeomanson, and producer DJ Le Spam, and will feature speakers such as Miami producer and songwriter Willie J. Clarke, music historian Jeff Lemlich, and TK Records founder Henry Stone. Cocktails will be provided by Smirnoff and Perrier while the group discusses and plays some of the building blocks of contemporary dance music, the first installment in a three part series of events.
