Winter Music Conference 2012 Dates Announced
Indie rock has its CMJ Marathon and SXSW. Couture has its Fashion Week. And electronic music has the Winter Music Conference in Miami. The WMC now has a quarter of a century in the rearview mirror, so its longstanding tradition as the ultimate gathering place for those whose lives revolve around the music is a lot to live up to. With the announcement of the official dates for next year's conference, things have been accordingly ramped up, so the the WMC can kick off its next 25 years with the proper amount of ballyhoo.
Over the years, attendees have come to take DJ sets and live performances by some of the most cutting-edge artists in all of the dance/electronic music world as a given at WMC. Likewise the parties, panels, and seminars featuring industry movers and shakers, focusing on vital and intriguing issues crucial to the community. But the 2012 edition of WMC will expand is scope even further than before, by busting out from a five-day schedule to a full ten days, adding in weekends on either side and stirring up a full plate of music events at venues in and around Miami Beach.
